Nerog started as a single mobile clinic in 2013. Today it's a foundation that funds direct care and independent research across health, ageing, disability, education, and disaster response — because we learned early that good intentions aren't enough without evidence behind them.
In 2013, a small team of volunteers ran a single free clinic on the outskirts of a mid-sized town. It worked — patients came, care was given. But six months in, we asked a harder question: was it actually improving lives, or just treating symptoms on repeat?
That question became the foundation's second pillar. Alongside care, we built a research arm whose only job is to check whether what we're doing actually helps — and to say so publicly when it doesn't.
Three volunteers, one van, and a weekly route through underserved neighbourhoods. No funding model yet — just word of mouth and a folding table.
Nerog was formally registered. The same year, we hired our first research lead, whose only mandate was to measure whether our programs actually worked.
Community requests kept surfacing needs we weren't built for — school dropouts, elder isolation, flood response. We expanded rather than turn people away.
Our research team found one flagship program wasn't moving outcomes. We published the finding and redirected the funding rather than defend it.
Today Nerog runs programs across health, elderly & disability care, education, disaster relief, community development, and applied research.
No one waits on a research finding to receive help. Direct support always comes before the study.
If a program isn't working, we say so publicly — even when it's ours, even when it's uncomfortable.
Programs are shaped by the people living the problem, not designed remotely and shipped in.
Our research, our finances, and our failures are published — other foundations are welcome to use all of it.
Every member of our leadership started in a clinic, a classroom, or a relief camp — not a boardroom.
Our board includes members with no operational role in the foundation, and our annual financials are reviewed by an external auditor before publication. You can read every report we've released.
